Who are An-Gwella Equestrian?
An-Gwella Equestrian is a newly set-up equestrian (horse) business, based near Penzance. Penzance is located in Penwith, the most south-westerly district of Cornwall (UK).
Rachel Reynolds, a 29-year-old British Horse Society (BHS) qualified Riding Instructor, set the company up after noticing a lack of similar services in the local area.
Rachel has over 15 years of experience riding and working horses, and 9 years of experience in teaching both children and adults to ride.

Rachel began her interest in horses and ponies as a child when she was bought her first pony, Munchkin.

She went on to help organise and run a small horse and pony rescue sanctuary. During this time, Rachel looked after many sick and neglected animals. She also taught the children, who helped-out at the sanctuary at weekends, all about the care of horses and ponies and how to ride them. Rachel attended Duchy College for 2 years and studied a GNVQ Equestrian Business Management Course. She also achieved her BHS Stages 1-3 and PTT (Preliminary Teaching Test).
After leaving Duchy, Rachel went on to work at Highfield Stud and, after approximately 6 months, was made Head-Girl. Highfield Stud had 55 horses (TB’s and Driving Horses) and 6 members of staff. In 1998, Highfield Stud was closed down after the sad death of the owner.
Rachel went on to set up a local Riding School and Trekking Centre (in a Partnership company), which she ran for 2 years. Being a busy and active person, Rachel also became a member of the Lands End Cliff Rescue (Coastguard) team. Whilst a member of the team, she and two other riders formed the first mounted Coastguard team to have existed in the last 150 years. The mounted team was used to great effect during the busy 1999 Eclipse period; with the large influx of people coming to the area to view the Eclipse, the use of horses enabled the team to be a high-visibility presence for first-aid and other emergency situations.

Since deciding to “go solo”, Rachel has looked after and ridden her own horses, and devoted her time to setting up her new business: An-Gwella Equestrian.
